STOVE SERVICING
Maintaining and servicing your stove is vital if you want to keep it operating efficiently, and more importantly, safely. A stove can be serviced & maintained by anyone who has the required knowledge although, most manufacturers - as a condition of their extended warranty - specify their stoves are to be serviced regularly (every 12 months) at least by a suitably trained person such as a HETAS registered engineer or if its a gas appliance, a gas safe registered installer!
REGULAR MAINTENANCE
At the time the annual service is to take place, it is best to have the chimney or lining system 'swept and tested' at the same time however, an annual service itself should not interfere with the regular maintenance routine - i.e the regular cleaning of the baffle plate & checking the flue way - which should be followed during the heating season, as directed by the stove manufacturer. If your appliance is regularly burning wood or bituminous coal, that is to say, the appliance is in regular use, it is best practice to have the flue swept and checked every 3 months since the burning cycle will be more frequent. As stated above, we tend to carry out our stove servicing from January to July when the winter rush is over and to make the whole process easier for our customers - we have created a simple sign up service package as standard (see below) along with a separate, FaceBook page to showcase all our service work, deals and giveaways!!
STOVE SERVICE DATES
The best time to have your stove serviced is either at the beginning or end of the heating season or as determined by the stove manufacturer, themselves. At, Grate Inspirations we recommend, that you have your stove serviced at the end of the heating season so as to guarantee that, any difficult to obtain parts can be ordered up & installed in plenty of time thus avoiding disappointment and ensuring your stove is in tip top condition, for the following season.
With the hectic schedules we follow in life, it's understandable why most of us tend to leave such things to winter time since that is when we tend to need our fire(s) the most. Making sure our fires are ready and at optimal operating level in time for the cold nights ahead is something, which doesn't normally concern us until those cold nights actually start to set in however, with the winter time being the industries busiest time of the year, to avoid any disappointment due to unavailability or extended lead times, It is often best to book your service somewhere between January & July.

Protective coverings are laid down on the floor around the stove area. The stove door ( if removable ) is then detached for cleaning. Debris in the stove is removed.

The stove is stripped internally and inners of the stove are removed, for cleaning. The entire stove is cleaned out & the stoves integrity is fully inspected for damage.

The inners of the stove are cleaned & inspected i.e fire grate, bars, firebricks, baffle plate, ash pan. Everything is then sanded down and re-painted for re-instatement

The stove is completely sealed off, for the sweeping of the flue and a hoover is connected, so as to ensure all soot is captured, and the property is not contaminated.

Stove door ( if removable ) is re-fitted. The hinges, and handle, riddling rod etc - are all re-oiled. The bodywork inspected. Flue pipe is re-sealed, box lightly re-painted

All removed and cleaned parts are re-installed and the stove is generally put back together so as to have it all appear and operate as it did when it was first installed.

Exterior of the stove is cleaned & painted, as required. The general install is brought back to life. A full smoke test is undertaken; carbon monoxide alarm is checked

We record every single step of the service with photos & video footage, which ( if requested ) for your records can be sent to you via email. We also upload it HERE.
DURATION AND PRICING
At, Grate Inspirations we believe in providing our customers with an exceptional level of service and where so many other companies offer a 'standard' stove service, covering the basics such as checking for damages, wear & tear etc, with additional extras (painting/cleaning etc) being charged as additional costs, we prefer to offer our customers a full comprehensive service, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the well-being of your stove.
A complete annual stove service from us - depending upon the stove - will generally last around 2.5hrs and this is priced at only: £120.oo. This comprehensive service covers everything detailed above however it doesn't include any parts, which may need replaced. Any replacement parts will be charged separately and - if in stock - they will be fitted at the time of the service and covered by the service cost. If not in stock, we can order it / them in and fit them for you at a later date that suits you for a standard call out charge of £50. We stock and carry a variety of ropes, seals, paints & glues and other materials at all times so the need to order will only be for specific parts like baffle plates/bricks etc.

Most people who have a stove installed, prefer that stove to be serviced annually by the engineer who installed it and that is why we like to service every stove we install year after year. We currently have over 300 existing customers on our books that we service each year, which is over 300 families we class as friends.
