The sleek, minimal depth, electric fires that are available on the market such as the popular Gazco eReflex 135R are low in height meaning, the TV can be positioned at the optimum eye level whilst seated. This is a great design option when building a media wall, since the recess for the TV can be built directly above the fire. With most electric fires on market - suited for media walls - constructed so as to not be deep in size, this creates an opportunity to have your TV screen flush with the face of the false chimney breast once it's hung and fixed onto the wall bracket within the recess.

When designing and constructing a media wall, the possibilities are endless. Alcoves, soundbar pockets, playstation, DVD player, books, ornaments - all of these items can be integrated into the media wall separately, or they can have their own shelf(s) complete with individual lighting, all controllable via an APP on your phone or with a remote control.

In today's world and with the way the future is looking, most modern built properties are being constructed without a real brick chimney, restricting the level of choice in terms of purchasing a fire, however ,this doesn't have to be a bad thing since there are other options available, such as electric fires. With modern house construction, new homes now tend to retain heat from a combination of central heating and with being well insulated making an electric fire an ideal option for a cozy flame-flickering atmosphere. An electric fire can be in operation to display the lights only, should you wish to create that relaxed ambiance, without the heat, and with many of the latest electric fires available today, there are colour changeable LED flames, which create the visual effect of a real fire.        With the available range of inset electric fires requiring depth to recess into, a media wall is an ideal solution as it only takes up in depth, around 12" of floor space, offering an ideal solution to hide electrical cables from the fire & the TV, including any other technological equipment you have and may wish to include within the media wall space itself.

A concern we often receive from homeowners when deciding on a media wall, is whether or not the heat from the fire will affect the TV. The short answer is no. All the latest quality electric fires are built with a fan heater contained within with the maximum output being 2KW ( many are slightly less ). The heat from the fire is thus expelled from the top of the fire, which blows downwards and away, therefore not directly going upwards towards the TV. The amount of heat produced and the distance of the TV - positioned above the fire - means that its highly unlikely that it would affect the TV but ultimately, it is the customers choice to have their TV above the fire ( or not ). In all our years installing electric fires, where customers have fitted their TV above, we've never had nor heard of any issues relating to heat, affecting the TV. Most of our customers who purchase electric fires tend to use them without the heat function 99% of the time to create ambience, rather than to generate heat. The recommended distance from an electric fire to a TV is 100mm.
